I replied all to a thread about layoffs with a meme meant for one friend. It was a photo of a dumpster fire and the caption “same energy.” HR was in the thread. I wrote a follow-up apology that was somehow worse than the meme. I still work there out of spite and rent.
I cried in the bathroom at work for eleven minutes and then fixed my mascara and went back to a meeting about Q3 priorities. Nobody asked if I was okay. I said I was fine twice. On the drive home I ate an entire family bag of chips in silence and called it dinner.
